Teacher Services: Library Cards and Privileges

Castro Valley Library High School Library Card

Your library card is your Staff ID preceded by "P ". Your Staff ID is available on Frontline Central. It may be three, four, five or even six digits long (all numeric).

Example:  P 12345

Your Library Card and Access

When teachers log in to Destiny, more privileges become available. Log in to Destiny with your Google account (email address and password.) Place holds and view your account under "My Stuff". When you come in to the library physically, your library card number (e.g. P 12345) provides access.

Access to CVHS e-resources varies by resource. Some e-resources use a CVUSD Google account, some geolocate, and some require an Alameda County Library Card and Pin (or an eCard and Pin) [See below]. Check the "Access" information for each database in the Database A-Z list.

Privileges

Privileges vary by user type.

In general, teachers are able to:

  • View more titles and collections in the library catalog than other patrons (e.g. Book Club titles) (visit Reserves)
  • Reserve multiple copies of titles, immediately, or for a future date (visit Reserves)
  • Reserve multiple copies of titles for a longer duration than other patrons (weeks) (visit Reserves)
  • Access teacher features in some e-resources
  • Administer eBook classroom sets to students, once the library purchases and licenses class sets and issues a class code (e.g. Follett Titlewave and Overdrive/Sora class sets)
  • Stream videos to students in a classroom setting with copyright clearance, once the library licenses it and issues a class code (e.g. Swank)
